Port Villa - ScrapTherapy June Challenge

Hi bloggers,

This week I've attempted the challenge over at ScrapTherapy.

The challenge is to use one of three rooms as inspiration for your layout. The layout I created used room number one as the inspiration. I picked out the blue and orange in the room and married it to colours in a photo from my holiday to Vanuatu this year (The blue shorts and orange tips on the shorts.) Moving on from this I decided to give Stampin' Up's colour chart a go by using the colour combination of Tangerine Tango, Pacific Point & So Saffron. I included the Dynamic Duo colour of Cajun Craze as well. The more I looked at this colour combo the more I thoroughly enjoyed creating the page. Extremely out of my comfort zone!!

So here is the room:

Here is my layout:

Here are some closeups:

They turned themselves when they uploaded... but you get the idea I'm sure!

In the first closeup I stamped on acetate with The Open Sea from Stampin' Up. Using the same stamp set I stamped on the penant banner using Pacific Point and Cajun Craze. The lighthouse is out of Mum's collection and the Anchor I bought from a local scrap booking shop in Townsville last weekend.

Please let me know your thoughts, much appreciated!

Till next time

Shaun's 19th Birthday - May 2012 Scraptherapy Challenge

Hi bloggers,

Today I'm posting a page I created last week with regards to the Stampin' Up Paper Party promotion held for May. This layout was based on the sketch provided by Scraptherapy for May. The challenge can be found here.

Here is the sketch:

Here is my interpretation:

As you can see I doodled around the edges and journalled along the side of the DSP. I created the page using the Timeless Portrait DSP, torn, distressed and ripped, layered onto Very Vanilla and Riding Hood Red.

Closeup:

I created a strip of paper which in turn became similar to a belt. I printed out the title on Very Vanilla cardstock. Using pearl flourishes from ScrapTherapy and Neutral brads from Stampin' Up I slightly embellished the page.

Hope you all like my page. :) Will upload some more over the next week.

Best Wishes To You

Another post today - trying to get all my projects up on the blog!! They've been sitting there for weeks now...

Still creating with the DSPs in preparation for our Paper Party.

Here are some basic cards I made using the Twitterpated DSP.

Here's the cards...

I've used the Decorative Label punch to create the flag using the Sincere Salutations stamp set.

The background has been embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.

I hope you like these designs.

Happy Mother's Day 2012

Hi bloggers,

A big Happy Mother's Day to all you bloggers out there. Hope you're getting spoiled.

Today I'm showing the Mother's Day card I made my special Mum along with a matching notepad cover.

Here is the set together:

Here is the notepad...

I stamped on the inside using Blushing Bride and Riding Hood Red with the Vintage Vogue from the Sale-A-Bration 2012 set.
I've used the Loving Thoughts stamp set from the Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue as the flag.

Here is the card...

I used the penant banner punch to create the banner. I also tried to use the banner to relate the the banner challenge Shannean created for April. I believe this card works well with the banner. I've used Blushing Bride cardstock for the base and Twitterpated DSP from the Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue for the background.

The banner has been punched from the DSP as well using Baja Breeze for the mini flowers while creating the title from Blushing Bride cardstock and the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet sizzlit dies.

Well that's all, hope you enjoyed this set using the Twitterpated DSP. Off to create some more examples with the DSP!!

till next time,

Getting ready...

Hi bloggers,

About time that I post something I believe! Today I am posting some projects I've been working on for displaying at our Paper Party at the end of May for Stampin' Up.

Here I have created a notebook cover with a matching card using the Just Add Cake DSP from Stampin' Up.

Here is the set:

Here is the notebook up close.

I've used a few things throughout the cover of this notebook. I've created the backing of the cover in Early Espresso cardstock with a sheet of Just Add Cake DSP for the background.  Also using a strip of the DSP I punched along the bottom edge with the Scallop Trim Border punch.

I've used a few different dies and punches to create the flowers. The large orange flower is created using the Fancy Flower punch, the tiny flowers are using a retired punch (sorry not aware of the name for that one), the medium and larger flowers are made from Blushing Bride cardstock using the retired die Birds and Blossoms. I created the banner by free cutting the banner to size on Whisper White with the  Loving Thoughts stamp set from the Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue.

Here is the matching card:

I have also used Early Espresso card for the base with Just Add Cake DSP for the background. I have used the retiring stamp set of Sincere Salutations from the current catalogue to create the banner.

I hope you all like this set I created. I have been making more in the different DSP ranges to demonstrate so keep watch for further designs!

till next time...

Boo Boo

Back again,

This is another layout I completed back in the late 2011! These photos are from the time Shaun & I went ice skating at the indoor ice skating rink they created at Edge Hill primary school in Cairns. Quite an adventure it was as I've never ice skated before. Shaun gladly skated rings around me the whole night...

So, I was skating around, slowly, but surely, skating around and around the rink. This guy came from behind me with his son lying in a sleigh, he went to go around me however the sleigh smacked right into me knocking me straight onto my butt! Yep, hurt my back, grazed my hands, was great..... So with tears in my eyes Shaun so kindly took these photos!

Here is my layout:

Some close ups...

Here I used the dynamo to create the title. I've also used Stampin' Ups Petite Pocket die cut to create the envelope.

Along the bottom of the photo I layered a rose ribbon trim, so beautiful. Can't wait to use more of this! I also put some blue eyelets in a strip of paper below the photo.

Well that's all for today.

Because Of You

Good evening bloggers,

This is a bit late this post, was suppose to post it when I completed this page however I forgot to put it up. But better late than never, hey?!

So this layout was based on the sketch from Stuck?! Sketches. Here is the link to their post... here

Here is the sketch:

 Here is my interpreation:

Here are some closeups:

Here is a pull out hidden journalling spot.

And the little banner I cut from scratch. All papers used were from the Kaszazz range - they merry together quite nice I believe.

I used the quote "Because of you I believe nothing is impossible" as I believe it goes together quite nice with this photo of my brother. He was trying out windsurfing with his American friend, Kendrick, for the first time. Very hard he said! My brother is my biggest inspiration in this world, alongside my parents. I used different fonts and alphabet stickers to create the title.

Well that's all for today. Hope you like my page!

Until next time
