Holiday to Canopy Tree Houses

Hello :)

Well today I thought I'd post some photos from my holiday the other week for Valentines day. We went to Tarzali, Far North Queensland to stay at the Canopy Tree Houses for four nights. It was quite an experience given I've lived in that area previously for 16 years! There was always wildlife present with a resident cassowary on the lurks around the property.

They also had a feeding area for turtles - what a sight! They obviously can hear you walking down to the water and they all come swimming their little feet off! There were so many turtles.

Take a look..

We also had tropical birds and possums occupying our verandah all weekend. We were given bird seed to hand feed the birds with and what was left over at the end of the day the possums came along and ate! The possums also loved their fruit so we left out some bananas for them. Cheeky!!

Have a look how cute they all are...

Here's Shaun opening his gifts - he's so excited!

And here are the cards Shaun made me.

Here's a Be Mine card, inside and out..

And here's my anniversary card. Shaun made a spinner in the card front saying Happy Anniversary etc..

And here's my Valentines Day card, he made it into a pop up card. Very intricate design!

We also went to Lake Barrine on our way home - look at the cute little duckies we hand fed! hehe

Well I hope you like all that. :) Off to do some more scrappin'!

My beloved Georgina

Hi bloggers,

I found this great sketches site this afternoon! They have an amazing design team and some awesome sketch ideas. I like the idea of this new eBook they're bringing out at the end of this month! Exciting.

So I thought I might attempt one of their sketches while scrappin' an animal photo for a change from people. I used Sketch # 193 over at Creative Scrappers.

Here is the sketch:

Here is my interpretation:

Some closeups:

Here I tried bending the paper while rolling the flower to create this rose. It took a lot longer but I really enjoy the effect. I've also folded paper and stitched over it a few times to create this look.

I stitched all around the edge of this layout to make a frame. I've also used the blotches stamp from the French Foliage set from Stampin' Up to make a soft background.

Okay, here I wanted to show the stitching I completed around the ball in the background. I decided to use a tennis ball as the circle in the sketch as George is chewing on a tennis ball in this photo. So cute!

Well I hope you all enjoyed this. Please leave any constructive feedback, I love suggestions!

Happy Valentines Day, 2012!

Good morning bloggers,

Well today has finally come! I've been very busy making Shaun's presents this year and they've just turned out so fantastic!!

I decided to create a gift bag to stick Shaun's present in. I pulled apart an old shopping bag and decorated the inside, now the outside, to keep the brown paper bag look. Along the top I created faux lace with a Martha Stewart Punch.

Here's the bag pulled apart:

Here's the bag:

Here's a closeup:

I used the penant parade punch from Stampin' Up to create the Valentine's penant. Following the Anniversary gifts I have also used only scraps to complete this project.

Here's another shot of the Be Mine card I created for Shaun, also posted last week. :)

I also created the following card for Valentines Day for my lovely mother and grandma. You can see below the gorgeous little envelopes I made as well to post the cards to them while I was away this weekend.

Keeping the same layout I also created this birthday card for my good friend, Kara. A little early... but it just looks so great! I've used vellum as the card and decorated with the Kaiser Craft range from 2011. The rosette is also made from vellum throughout these cards.

I hope you all liked my creations today. I had so much fun making them all :)

Till next time.

Happy Anniversary :D

Well today is my second anniversary with Shaun... pretty scary, right?

I can finally reveal the mini album and tin I created for him for this special day. On the top of the tin I used the current Sketch Along Tuesdays, Sketch # 34. This entire project was completed using ONLY scraps out of our scrap paper collection boxes. The boxes are becoming to full leaving them ajar all the time. So I took up the challenge of using only scraps and it proved to be quite fun.

Here is the sketch:

Here is my interpretation:

I've been experimenting with Mum's sewing machine (and ruining her needles...) by using different decorative stitches. Lots of fun!!! You can see above that I've used stitching as a border around the top of the tin and to stitch the strips to the page.

Here you can see here I stitched hearts around the edges of the tin...

Here I've used a rub on from the Basic Grey collection which fit quite perfectly on an ID tag I found in our stash.

Here is the inside of the tin. I've used a rub on to symbolise the start of our relationship. I think it fits into the theme of the album quite nicely.

Okay, so onto the mini album inside the tin.

Here is the front of the album which you can see I've covered a chipboard frame in scrap paper then used the Stampin' Up Lattice Embossing folder to emboss the outside. In the frame I've used a rub on quote.

And some pages inside the album.

This tin took me about two hours and was nice and simple to complete. I love how the stitching binds it all together and complements the mini album inside.

I also created this anniversary card for him on Thursday. Isn't it just the cutest!?

Well I had SOOOO much fun creating this album and tin and I hope you all enjoyed viewing my creations.

Approaching VDay 2012!

Well it's nearly that time again and I'm trying to keep on top of things this year. I did pretty well for Christmas last year though, I did have all gifts ready a few weeks before Christmas!!!

But back to Valentines Day... I've been wanting to use the candy hearts stamp out of the new Summer Mini from Stampin' Up ever since I snapped it up last year. After pondering for about half an hour I designed this cute little card.

Here's my card:

Close up:

I also made a complete mini album for Shaun last week for our anniversary - all in a day's work. I have no idea how I pulled it off! I've posted a little sneak preview of the tin it fits in below, but you will have to wait till we return from our awesome holiday before I reveal the whole thing. Don't want him snooping now. ;)

Here's the GORGEOUS mini album tin:

Off to make some more! I hope you enjoyed my card. All feedback appreciated!! ;)

Till next time.

Hello February 2012

Good morning Bloogers,

I started a new page last week before I went away for a few days to help my dear Grandma in her garden. Pondering a bit I finished it this morning. I just have to add a hidden photo behind the original photo and then it's complete. I've never used such BOLD colours so this was a great challenge for me.

I've used the sketch from the January 15th Challenge over at Once Upon A ... Sketch.

Here's my interpretation:

Don't you just love my handmade little poka dot paper flower!

Some close ups:

All papers used (besides the large rosette) are from "The Celebration Stack" from the DCWV range.

The journalling requirement for Once Upon A ... Sketch was "Hello 2012 or Goodbye 2011". I decided to journal a fond memory from 2011, Shaun celebrating his 20th birthday. This will be a great memory in 2012 when we both celebrate our 21st birthdays. Exciting :-D

Off to finish my Valentine projects. :)

Happy February. This year is being great so far.
